Ingredients
  

  • 4 pieces bone-in chicken thighs
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 0.25 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cups unsalted chicken stock
  • 1 ounce chicken gravy mix packet
  • 4 tablespoons butter cut into slices
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water

Instructions
 

  • Season the chicken thighs on both sides with the salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, and pepper.
  • Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the oil.
  • Sear the chicken on both sides until golden brown 5-10 minutes, we are not looking to fully cook the chicken.
  • Place the seared chicken in to the bottom of a 6-quart slow cooker.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together the chicken stock and chicken gravy mix.
  • Pour over the chicken thighs.
  • Top with the butter slices.
  • Cook on low 4-5 hours or high 2-3 hours until an internal temperature reaches at least 165°F.
  • Take out the chicken thighs and stir together the cornstarch and water in a small bowl.
  • While whisking constantly, pour the slurry into the slow cooker.
  • Place the chicken back in and coat in the gravy.
  • Place on high heat for 30 more minutes to thicken the gravy. Serve immediately.

Notes

This dish is perfect for a cozy dinner for two, pairing well with rice or mashed potatoes.
